The original New Canaan Medical Group was founded by Drs. Horace Crary and David Brown at 173 East Avenue, the exact same building the groups occupy today.  The two internists were joined by a third, Dr. William Eckhardt, in 1960 and in 1963 Dr. Thomas Flynn joined the group as a pediatrician, creating New Canaan’s first multi-specialty group.  The group remained intact until the early 2000’s when changes in managed care and medicare made it more advantageous to split into separate Internal Medicine and Pediatric groups.  Both specialties still remain under the same roof.  173 and its iconic weeping beech tree have been the place New Canaan and its surrounding communities go for medical care for 64 years!
